Master Profile Guide
Use this page before filling /dashboard/profile. Your Master Profile is the source profile used by Resume Builder import, cover-letter generation, and extension writing assistance.
How The Page Works
- Your saved profile details are loaded automatically when the page opens.
- Save Changes updates your top-level fields (name, email, phone, LinkedIn, location) and stores your section entries for future use.
- Import Resume parses an uploaded PDF/DOCX and merges extracted values into the current form. Always review parsed output before saving.
- Resume Builder's Import Profile maps this data into resume sections, so consistency here improves output quality everywhere.
Section By Section
Personal Details
- Full Name: used to split first/last name in Resume Builder import.
- Email and Phone: used in generated resumes and AI context.
- LinkedIn URL: stored for profile context and resume contact section.
- Location: reused for resume/contact and AI personalization context.
Executive Summary
- Should be a concise professional overview. This text is reused as profile context in AI drafting flows.
- Strong summaries improve relevance in cover letter and extension-generated supporting answers.
Experience
- Add company, role/title, start date, end date, and description for each role.
- Descriptions should focus on outcomes and impact; these are transformed into bullets when needed by resume templates.
- Use clear date values and
Presentwhere applicable for better normalization.
Education
- Add institution, degree, and dates for each entry.
- If you have specialization/field details, keep them in the degree wording so downstream resume formatting remains explicit.
Skills
- Skills are comma-separated. Example:
React, Product Analytics, SQL, Leadership. - Skills are split by commas, so adding or removing commas changes each skill item.
- Keep wording consistent (e.g., don't mix
JavaScriptandJSunless intentional).
Certifications
- Add certification name, issuing authority, and date.
- This section is optional but improves trust signals in resume generation and supporting context.
Critical Best Practices
- Complete all core sections before relying on AI generation for better output quality.
- Use one consistent naming convention for companies, schools, and skills.
- Prefer explicit dates over vague text to improve parsing and template rendering.
- Review data after resume parsing and before saving.
- Save after major edits so all features use your latest profile details.
